Divided Luhyas Can't Get Nation's Top Seat — Duale

The disunity and selfishness depicted by the Luhya leaders in Kibra by-election will deny them the country's top seat, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale has said. "Mudavadi's candidate got 5,000 votes while Ford Kenya managed a paltry 260 votes. This clearly shows how the Luhya nation is divided. If they had picked one candidate and supported him, things could be different," Duale said. The Garissa Township MP asked the community to throw their weight behind Deputy President William Ruto "who is one step to the top seat". ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya have all declared their interest to lead the country in 2022. BUMULA MP ISSUES 50 MOTORBIKES TO OPERATORS, SECURES EMPLOYMENT FOR TWO:

Bumula Member of Parliament Mwambu Mabongah has issued 50 motorbikes to Bodaboda operators drawn from Siboti, Kimaeti, and West Bukusu wards which form Kimaeti Sub County.  The ceremony which was held at Kitabisi Market kicked off with a free service and free fuel donation to all operators who availed themselves at the venue, courtesy of Car & General and the  Office of the MP.   The MP's public request to Car & General's manager for placement of riders with qualifications into their rank and file was well positively received with the General Manager granting two job opportunities of a sales person and a technician to available riders with qualification. This is according to NG-CDF Board Chair Mr. Masese and CEO Yusuf Mbuno,who expressed their awe upon completing a tour of projects sampled in each of the seven wards,across the expansive Constituency.  Speaking at the St. Michael Nakhwana Primary School where the tour culminated in the opening of a CDF funded three classrooms and office project,Mbuno told Wananchi  that he has never seen anywhere,the zeal for development and economical prudence in maximising available meagre resources to address teething community needs over a very short period. The trajectory being babysat  and weaned by first term fiery legislator Mwambu Mabongah in what he termed a Rapid Response Initiative targeting to addressing the infrastructure state in schools. Having kicked off his reform agenda in schools with mudwalled classrooms and under-the-tree schools, Mabongah's efforts are being felt. PRESIDENT UHURU LAUNCHES NEW CURRENCY COINS

After winning a Ksh11.1 billion three  year contract to design and manufacture Kenya’s new generation currency, British security printer firm De La Rue is already at work. President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday officially launched Kenya’s new currency, which had been set to take effect from the new year 2019. The President launched the coins, which are to have symbols rather than the portraits of the former Presidents of Kenya. Kenyans are expected from today to start using the new generated coins. Central Bank of Kenya  is set to start circulating the new currency today. De La Rue had earlier disclosed that it plans to deliver the first batch of the banknotes, which will not bear the image of an individual in 2019. The pricing of the initial batch of the new notes means it will cost the taxpayer Ksh2.4 billon. The decision allowed the CBK and the security printer to proceed with production of the new currency notes as required under the 2010 Constitution.The  award of the contract

3 Perish in a Kanduyi-Malaba Road Carnage; Scores injured

A grisly road accident has claimed three lives and left scores injured at Nang'eni along the Kanduyi-Malaba. According to onlookers, the truck lost control,swerved and smashed a matatu belonging to West Tours Sacco, dismembering it and butchering three occupants instantly before plunging to the roadside and seriously injuring the driver. "I saw the truck skid from one side to the other. It was evidently incontrollable. It swerved before hitting the matatu from behind and destroying it. As you can see the matatu is in no good shape. Screams were all over. We ran here only to find people badly injured and about 3 dead. The truck fell across the road," Jane,a witness to the accident told our reporter. She added,"the matatu was well parked at the Nang'eni stage and a passenger was alighting. The truck hit it from behind.
