EUGENE BACK TO THE CABINET AS PRESIDENT UHURU NAMES HIS MINISTERS

President Uhuru Kenyatta has named the list of persons he wishes to work with as he gears up to deliver on his promises of the 'Big 4' as envisaged in his inauguration speech. The move has ended weeks of speculation that have seen barbs aimed at former water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Ludovic Wamalwa. Wamalwa had missed out on the entire list raising brows as to whether he would be in cabinet; his political nemeses claiming he had been 'used and dumped.' However,political leaders from the region had heightened hope of their son being included in the list of ministers,with the Senate speaker Ken Lusaka,Bumula MP Mwambu Mabongah and Didmus Barasa of Kimilili imploring for patience from the Mulembe nation,promising that they will make it their business to ensure Uhuru considers Luhyas beyong the appointment of Wanyama Musiambo as Deputy Head of Public Service. Opposition leader Raila Odinga has told Deputy President William Ruto that he would not win the presidency in 2022 without his support. Raila said Ruto – a former ally-turned-foe – should reach out to him as that was the only way he could ascend to the country’s top seat in the 2022 General Election. MATIANG'I SHUTS PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY

Acting Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i on Thursday, January 25 has revoked the operating license of the Presbyterian University of East Africa. Matiang’i further directed the Commission for University Education (CUE ) to start the process of winding up the university. This comes just three days after the regulator recommended the closure of the university and a financial audit of Kenya Methodist University and Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe has resigned. Mr Igathe claimed that he has failed to earn the trust of Governor Mike Sonko to enable him work at the county. “Dear Nairobians, it is with a heavy heart that I resign my seat as elected Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County effective 1pm on 31st Jan 2018. “I regret I have failed to earn the trust of the Governor to enable me to drive Admin & Management of the county. Without fear, favour or ill will I step down to avoid abusing or betraying my oath of office to Kenyans, Nairobians and my family. WANGAMATI UNVEILS SCHOLARSHIP FOR BRIGHT,NEEDY KIDS

Bungoma Governor, H.E Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati today morning unveiled a BUNGOMA COUNTY SCHOLARSHIPS program, where students from Bungoma county, who qualified and were called to join National schools around the country, received full scholarship which encompasses full school fees, shopping and transport for the students.   This is a complimentary of the bursary fund, which the Governor increased its budget from the previous year's 180 million to 400 million this financial year. The increase in allocation is as a direct result of savings from unnecessary expenditures in the County Government budget, like seminars away from the county and international travels. Speaking in the launching ceremony held at the County Headquarters in Bungoma town, the Governor pledged to increase the bursary fund in subsequent years, and sourcing for national and international education partners that will be willing to be part of the Bungoma County scholarship program. COUNTY LEGISLATORS CHASE AWAY KAMUSINGA PRINCIPAL

Drama has unfolded at Friends School Kamusinga after ward leaders from the Bungoma County Assembly led goons in storming and ejecting the principal and locking his office. Three MCAs Wednesday threw out Mr Alex Kariuki Maina, the new principal posted to the school in Kimilili Constituency last week. Learning was disrupted and the ongoing admission of Form One students was temporarily stopped as the leaders stormed the school accompanied by locals. They were led by Kibingei MCA Aggrey Mulongo, Mr Stephen Wafula of Soysambu/Mitua Ward and nominated MCA Luke Opwora. Mr Maina was transferred from Oloolaiser Boys High School in Narok County to replace Mr Edwin Namachanja who was moved to Maranda High school in Siaya County in changes made by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) that affected more than 500 principals and headteachers.
