LUSAKA: TOO SOON FOR REFERENDUM TALKS, FOCUS ON DELIVERING THE BIG FOUR AGENDA.

Speaking when he visited the Headquarters of the African Divine Church (ADC) in Boyani, Vihiga County, where he presided over the closing ceremony of the Youth Leaders’ National Convention, Speaker Lusaka noted that the country had just come from one of the most expensive elections in the world. “I do not deny that change is good as rest. Calls for referendum this soon after the 2017 elections are however premature. Our economy is only recovering from the prolonged electioneering period,” observed the Speaker. “The country is usually on tenterhooks whenever elections are imminent. The Bumula Member of Parliament  Hon.  Mwambu  Mabongah hosted the CS Energy and Petroleum Hon.  Charles Keter in launching the last mile connection and street lighting programme christened "Light Up Bumula. " Speaking at the function held at Lunakwe in South Bukusu ward of Bumula Constituency, the legislator noted with concern the dismal connection of his constituents to the national electricity grid,swearing to sort out the problem during his first term. Bumula Member of Parliament Hon. Mwambu Mabongah condoled with the family of Hon. Jack Wambulwa following the death of the latter's mother. The legislator used the opportunity to challenge youth to take advantage of the recently released bursaries and concentrate on excellence in education. "I have launched the first tranche of the CDF bursaries. The process was above board because vetting was done by yourselves. I believe you gave my committee names of the truly needy students and they have benefited. My allocation is Ksh. 10,000 and I intent to better if not maintain the standard in the coming tranches," the MP said amid a frenzy of applause from the mourners. Bumula legislator Hon. Mwambu Mabongah has today launched an ambitious bursary scheme in a colourful ceremony held at the Kibabii Diploma Teachers' Training College Syombe campus. The MP used the opportunity to enlist his education blueprint for the education sector in the constituency,saying his stand with headteachers on infrastructural development and result improvement stands saying the delay in initiating its implementation is due to the delay in release of funds by the national government. "... I received the AIE to this funds on Friday. Today I have released the funds because I'm ahead of time in planning. Application and vetting processes were done early enough in anticipation of these monies. The moment the money was wired into our accounts they get disbursed immediately...... This is your money.
