BUMULA FEELS LEADERSHIP

Bumula Constituency is an electoral unit created in the run up to the 1997 general elections. It was curved off the then larger Kanduyi Constituency. This Constituency has seen politicians at the helm, for long: Lawrence Sifuna,Maurice Makhanu,Wakoli Bifwoli and Boniface Otsiula.

The 2017 elections however, proved a bet won by the electoral gamblers that the electorate had been reduced to-they voted a leader, especially going by majority opinion shapers.

Bumula Race 2017 had attracted all the seasoned and shrewd operatives in the game. Parties and interested individuals raised the stakes in the game, with Ford Kenya controversially awarding a certife of nomination to Wanami Wamboka Jack. Jubilee banked will, money and trust in an Otsiula win and second term. UDP on the other hand, had the calculative, seasoned Wakoli Bifwoli. ANC gave KUPPET Secretary General Augustine Luketelo a lifeline in his quest for political relevance; all going for the coveted helm of this land of potential, Bumula.

The processes and aftermath of the party primaries gave birth to one candidate who rid himself of the shackles of party allegiance and sort a self determined course to what he believed was the best for 'his people.' This man is Hon. Rev. Moses Mwambu Mabongah.

He had slowly but determinedly built a name for himself. Having vied and lost the man rose above politics and proved that it is not just after winning that you can serve. He served and thanks to him,Bumula did not feel the void of an absentee leader that they had chosen.

The theatrics, chicanery,Wheeler deals and gimmicks that were the tools of trade in the vicious political duel culminated in an electoral process that fit the bill of the means. This man Mwambu Mabongah won with a landslide, beating his closest rival with about 10,000 votes. A man of the people, indeed!

His promise having been to "touch the lives of the Bumula populace," the Man took over the stewardship of the constituency carrying along the hopes and 'urgent' expectations of his people.

He chose to start early. He started cutting deals that have seen Khelela,Mikokwe,Muanda,Napara,Sirende,Samichi,Bitobo Jua Kali and Khayo C villages, earmarked for connectivity to the national electricity grid.

His negotiation skills have seen an allocation of funds to Namuningie,Kimwanga and Nandingwa dams, that will see Bumula's age old water problem solved.

Mwambu has also secured funding for Mwiyenga Girls' School,a première model school in Kimaeti ward, not forgetting the ambitious empowerment program under the auspices of NYS Kazi kwa Vijana that has seen over 900 cohorts enrolled.
His unrelenting spirit lured the Beyond Zero Mobile Clinic services whose main applause was the free cancer screening that they offered to his electorates.

The Bumula Member of Parliament has secured an administrative unit;Kimaeti SubCounty that would see government services devolved closer to the people.

Recently, characteristic of his philanthropy, Hon. Mwambu adopted Faith Nafula,a poor pupil from Nandika village of Siboti ward, who scored 402 marks in the recently released KCPE. The MP will be paying fees for the kid.

This trend is earning the MP a name. Among the poor,he remains their redeemer. He has reinvigorated hope among the sons and daughters of the soil to come back home and join hands with him in redeeming the constituency.

As his political star shines brighter each day,Mwambu has attracted enemies from quarters that believe in politics without leadership.
Asked how he will navigate this onslaught the MP says: " It is well. My scorecard will talk for me. My people will choose leadership over senseless politics. "
Indeed, going by his performance in less than 90 days that he has been at the helm,Bumula will have know choice but to embrace his leadership,if they have to move.
