MWAMBU'S HOUSING PROGRAMME GETS BOOST
It is a major boost to housing in Bumula Constituency following massive support from political leaders and well wishers demonstrated today during a resource mobilization exercise at Bumula Grounds where over 3 million shillings in cash, in kind and in pledges was raised.
Under the auspices of the Mwambu Mabongah Trust Fund, leaders united to mobilize resources aimed at providing decent houses to the elderly members of the society, the widows and people with disability who live in mud-walled grass-thatched huts.
The Deputy President William Ruto represented by Tharaka Nithi Senator and Senate Deputy Speaker Hon. Kithure Kindiki gave 2 million shillings cash.
The area MP Hon. Mwambu Mabongah, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, and Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi each contributed 100 thousand shillings cash.
Trans Nzoia governor Patrick Khaemba contributed 120,000, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama 20,000, Hamisi MP Charles Gemose 30,000, Senate Deputy Speaker issued cheques worth 200,000 while Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula contributed 100,000.
In terms of materials, CS Eugene contributed 2000 iron sheets while Governor Wangamati gave a shopping voucher worth 600 iron sheets.
These resources will undoubtedly go a long way in promoting Housing as part of president Uhuru Kenyatta's Big 4 Agenda.
Late in the evening,the overly developmental legislator hosted the CS Eugene Wamalwa at a function to install the newly created Kimaeti Sub county DCC.
He used the opportunity to urge residents to brace for development in housing after he had raised funds for the program he called ONDOA NYASI BUMULA.
He enumerated the benefits of the new administrative unit,naming jobs,business and security as key among them. He also highlighted an opportunity to devolution of national government functions closer to the common man.
"We've started a program that will leave Bumula without any grass thatched house. My resource mobilization exercise has borne fruit. Expect serious works from Monday.
" About this sub county... I thank the president for keeping his word. This sub county will increase opportunities for jobs,business and ensure the security of every citizen," the legislator averred.
The function was graced by Hon. Dan Wanyama,Hon. Janet Nangabo, Hon. Werunga,MCAs and a host other leaders.
