40 BIKES GIVEN TO RIDERS IN GRAND BODABODA EMPOWERMENT PLAN

Bodaboda riders from Bumula SubCounty of Bumula constituency yesterday received a major boost when the area Member of Parliament Mwambu Mabongah handed them 40 new motorbikes, carrying on with his empowerment drive targeting the riders.
The ceremony which was held in Kabula ward brought together leaders and prospective partners whose sole target was to see every rider own a motorcycle by 2022.

Speaking at the ceremony, the legislator urged youth to be agents of positive change and engage in productive discourses that target at bettering their existence.
"To our youth. What we're giving you today is a fishing rod. My target is to ensure you earn a living and not depend on hand outs from people who misuse you. This plan targeting Bodaboda will be replicated to other sectors with support programmes to spur productivity among the youth," Mabongah said.

Eugene Under Fire
Politics also took center stage. The recent declaration by Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and his reckless remarks over the weekend targeting to tarnish Mabongah earned him a tongue lashing from leaders led by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa who termed Eugene as an unappreciative and trading on loose ground.
He wondered how Eugene could compare himself to development conscious leaders such as Mabongah.

"We lobbied for Eugene to return to the cabinet. Waluke,Mabongah, myself and other western leaders pleaded with Uhuru and Ruto to reappoint him when we got wind of a plan to send him to Uganda as CS.
Therefore we have a moral authority to ask him to front Luhya interests in Parliament. When my brother Mwambu asks about sugarcane matters, maize prices and lobbying for one of our own to get employment, Eugene should respond and not abuse us as being mediocre," Barasa said, adding,
"We demand an apology from Eugene. You cannot just abuse an elected leader and think you win. Eugene,we'll bring the war to your doorstep as Bungoma and Luhya legislators."

Mabongah and Waluke reiterated this with the Bumula MP requesting Eugene to pick a date of his choice to come and open the 100 housing units built using government donated iron sheets that Eugene claimed were missing. He also wondered whether Eugene wanted to support the Ondoa Nyasi Bumula housing plan by the MP or if he wanted the 2000 iron sheets to be carried around for showcasing in funerals.
"I want to request Mheshimiwa Eugene to pick a date when he wishes to come inspect and open 100 housing units done using the 2000 sheets. Our Ondoa Nyasi Bumula initiative has seen over 140 units built so far.
Eugene should come, open the 100 done using government donated iron sheets and keep off the exercise. In the same breath he should come clear on whether he wanted us to use the iron sheets to build houses or to showcase in funerals that he attends," said Mabongah.

Sirisia MP warned of dire consequences for Eugene in case he fails to apologize to Mwambu and the Bungoma legislators.

The function was also graced by Kabuchai Parliamentary hopeful Majimbo Kalasinga,MCA Vitalis Wangila, assistant County Commissioners, chiefs and other Stakeholders.

  1. To me it doesnt sound a long term empowerment and engament but a short lived motivation which is good.
