BUNGOMA MCAs IN BID TO KICK OUT SPEAKER.

Members of the Bungoma county Assembly have kick started an ambitious process of impeaching their speaker.
So far 33 ward leaders out of 61 both elected and nominated have signed in a list in possession of Bumula Mirror.
Kabuchai/Chwele MCA Barasa Mukhongo of Ford Kenya is the first one in the list to kick start the process of impeaching Mr.Emmanuel Situma who had been chosen by the party.
The MCAs are blaming the speaker for colluding with the area governor Wycliffe Wangamati thus making it hard for them to carry on with their oversight roles.
“Our Speaker has lost direction, he is going to bed with the executive, it has been a hell for us carrying out with our oversight roles, we are an independent body which should be respected, this is not a Ford Kenya affair,” said an MCA who asked for anonymity.
However, Khalaba MCA Okumu Majimbo told our reporter that he will only give out his concrete comment at a later stage because they are at an initial stage at the moment.
“I know we are carrying on with the process but I will state my stand why I support the impeachment at a secondary stage not now at a primary stage, it is too early,” said Majimbo.
Another MCA who asked for asked for anonymity told Bumula Mirror that the issue arose from the way the assembly service board is trying hard to force unqualified people to act as residents representative.
“We can’t accept somebody from Kakamega and who vied for an MCA seat in Chemuche ward to represent our people, we have no confidence in the speaker, he should tell us the truth whether he is in control of the assembly or not,” he said.
42 ward leaders are needed to hit the quorum to help impeach the house speaker.
